Mindful Moments
What is Meditation really?
Is it something that only works for monks? Or is it possible to integrate it into modern life?
Spoiler alert: yes, this is accessible for everyone and many successful people have integrated it into their busy schedules and felt the benefits of it, so you can do it too.
There are many definitions & traditions of Meditation and it means different things to different people, even though I believe the essence is (almost) the same. However, I’d like to start with what it is not, because there are many myths about it (and I’m only speaking from my experience over the last years and the teachings I received).
What Meditation is not:
- concentration & struggling to quiet your thoughts (concentration will be a side effect, but everything you do with struggle is not Meditation, the goal isn’t to have no more thoughts, but to become aware of them)
- religious rituals (even though some rituals can lead to Meditation)
- Deep connection (with yourself, universe/divine, and others)
- Freedom & inner peace
- Awareness & Consciousness
- Mindfulness & acceptance
- Pure intention
- Gratitude
- Balance
Mindful Moments
What is Mindfulness?
1) being fully present and engaged in the moment – what I call “fully living”
2) free from judgement, worry or distraction
Just imagine how joyful life could be, if you FULLY lived and enjoyed/tasted/felt the small and big moments in life? Fully embracing life’s experiences without distraction or thinking about the next thing you have to do or be. Or overthinking what already happened and can’t be changed.
Often times we rush from one meeting to the next, checking your phone, being on a call, planning, worrying, and overthinking at the same time. Our minds can be very loud and we live in a world full of distractions.
Think about it, when was the last time you spent half a day, or even a few hours, without checking your phone?
With a few small tools and tricks, you can make your life so much more enjoyable. In challenging and stressful times, it means understanding yourself and what is coming up and having the space to react in a calm & thoughtful way.
I used to have so many things going on at the same time, rushing from one thing to the next, almost doing 3 things at the same time, already mentally at the next meeting and walking through my to-do-list and deadlines for tomorrow, plus a vivid social life.
This wasn’t sustainable for me and Mindfulness got me out of this chronic stress and my hectic & overplanned life.
And so can you 🙂 Check out my offers at “work with me” and schedule a free discovery call. Can’t wait to meet you!
